Date: Thursday, 04 December - 05:00 to Thursday, 04 December - 16:00
Food waste has been flagged as a serious global concern, with implications for resource efficiency, food security and lost economic value. In order to build momentum in the Western Cape, the 110% Green Food Forward project will be running a series of food chain tours aimed at facilitating discussion, learning and the sharing of best practice, ideas and resources.
As part of the Witzenberg Tour, 110% Green will be visiting various production, processing, packaging, storage, waste handling and food exchange activities and facilities in the towns of Worcester, Wolseley and Ceres. These will include an olive farm, dried fruit facility and a wine-waste processing facility.
The Tour will be attended by various food and food waste related organisations, companies, forums, industry associations, research institutions, agri-producers, food processors, distributors, retailers and waste handlers from the Eden area and relevant stakeholders from Cape Town.
