Turning Homes into Innovation Labs
Introduce green ideas and products that promote innovative, sustainable and affordable living to between 10 and 30 homes in an identified street in Gugulethu by December 2014. We aim to establish partnerships with existing organisations, particularly 110% Green initiatives, currently operating in the township areas that have developed relevant ideas and products and that are currently working in isolation. The ‘Innovation Street’ will serve as a platform to connect and showcase these disparate projects while integrating these ideas into the homes. We further commit to supporting learning and awareness by setting up each of the 10-30 homes as live exhibition spaces open to the public and that will be marketed to schools, tourists, and the general community amongst others, thereby generating an income for the home owners.
