The habits you created to survive will no longer serve you when it is time to thrive. Get out of survival mode. New habits, new life.

Start with simple New Year nutrition resolutions. They are easier to stick to than big changes that are difficult to maintain. Focus on drinking mostly water and swop sweetened drinks for low or no-kilojoule options like tea, coffee or milk. If you’re trying to lose weight, it is best to avoid drinking kilojoules as far as possible.

Start with simple New Year nutrition resolutions. Replace at least one of the refined grains you eat with a higher fibre option every week - go for wholegrain or brown bread instead of white, or snack on a small bowl of home-popped popcorn instead of a packet of chips.

Start with simple New Year nutrition resolutions. Pack a piece of fresh fruit to eat with your lunch, or to have as a snack. It's hassle free and requires no preparation. Choose a fruit you like to eat so that you are more likely to eat it. Small, simple changes can result in big health benefits.

Have you included exercise and healthy eating in your New Year’s resolutions? Achieve your goals this year by making your resolutions specific. For example, include a step-by-step action plan on HOW you plan keep active, WHEN you’re going to include exercise in your schedule and WHAT to do to overcome the challenges you experience.

A WoW! tip to be more physically active at work: Walk and talk. Consider taking half your lunch break to go for a walk with someone you work with. Whenever you have to meet informally with co-workers, turn the meeting into a short walk. If it takes 5 minutes to discuss something you are working on, that means you just got 5 extra minutes of physical activity!

A WoW! tip to be more physically active at home: Turn off the TV. The only time that most kids aren't moving around is when they're sitting in front of the TV. Turn off the TV and suddenly we've got one less reason to spend our days sitting on the couch.
