Joint Media Alert:  Western Cape Government to hand over first Social Housing Units at Conradie Park

Tomorrow, Friday 4 February 2022, the Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, will be joined by the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works, Daylin Mitchell, and the Provincial Minister of Human Settlements Tertuis Simmers, during the official handover of the first social housing units at Conradie Park.

The R3-billion, 22-hectare former Conradie Hospital site in Pinelands was identified as a suitable location for the pilot or ‘exemplar’ for the Better Living Model which will create 3 500 residentially-led, mixed-use, mixed-income housing opportunities close to the Cape Town CBD where people can live, work, play and learn.

This critical redress has been achieved through enabling and making available well-located state-owned land for affordable, integrated residentially-led development by the private sector.

Details are as follows:

Date: Friday, 4 February 2022
Time: 10am
Venue: Conradie Park, Pinelands

All media are welcome to attend. There will be opportunities for media interviews and photographs. Social distancing and mask-wearing will be strictly enforced.
