Four injured and five are in a stable condition after a motor vehicle accident took place on the R45 towards Franschoek in peak traffic this morning between two Toyota Hilux vehicles, a mini bus and a sedan. It is estimated that the incident could have taken place between 7h30 and 7h45.
The mini bus, twenty kilometres away from its destination was transporting eight school children under the age of ten of which three were injured and five in stable condition. According to Metro Rescue Paarl staff on the scene, it is suspected that the sedan was either hit by the mini bus or one of the Hilux vans. The sedan then hit a school boy on the side of the road and the rest of the vehicles collided into each other, the youth was wounded but is in stable condition.
Four Emergency Medical Service ambulance vehicles and staff arrived shortly after the accident, followed by Metro Rescue Paarl technical staff with full support and the Jaws of Life arriving on scene ten minutes after receiving the call out. The patients were transported to a hospital in the area.
