Meet the Minister

​​​​​​​Minister Anton Bredell

Mr Anton Bredell was appointed as Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning by the Premier, Helen Zille in 2009. He previously served as Executive Mayor of Swartland Municipality after being its Deputy Mayor. He became the chairperson of the Western Cape DA Mayoral Forum in the Western Cape. He also studied Marketing and Sales Management and was awarded as Marketing Person of the year in 1996.

Anton Bredell served as a ward councillor in the Darling Transitional Council, and later became Mayor of Swartland Municipality. He was also chairperson of the Works Committee, and served on the executive committee and finance committees of the Municipality.
