The Provincial Government of the Western Cape (PGWC), through its Centre for e-Innovation (CeI), has been involved in FOSS and will be present in the celebration of the day by demonstrating development with MONO and highlighting some key government projects, partnerships and strategies.
The one-day event will host install-fests and display stands where members of the public can bring their PCs or laptops FOSS installations and demonstration.
There will also be demonstrations on the vital role FOSS plays in schools, tertiary institutions and government.
Citizens of the Western Cape should leave the event with an empowered sense of how FOSS can build and grow the information society.
Software Freedom Day will be celebrated on the 10th September 2005 at Century City (Located near the Stuttafords in the upper court, Canal Walk).
