Minister Simmers solidifies partnership with Kannaland municipality

Yesterday, the Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers visited the Kannaland municipality which forms part of the Garden Route District.   The engagement was held in Ladismith, where Minister Simmers met with the leadership of the Kannaland Municipality to discuss various infrastructure projects.

The engagement was attended by Minister Simmers, Heads of Department for Human Settlements and Transport & Public Works together with the Council of Kannaland municipality.  

Minister Simmers said: ”Today we are reviving a partnership with the Kannaland municipality by cementing the ground upon which this new partnership will flourish.  The interests and needs of the residents of Kannaland and the restoration of dignity will be the focal point of this partnership. As we set to close the chapter of the past, we are also busy building a new Kannaland where all its residents flourish and receive the necessary socio-economic services.

Minister Simmers highlighted the importance of bringing all stakeholders together to better the lives of all citizens of the Western Cape.

The Mayor further added: ”Today the message was clear from our citizens, we need to establish a good partnership with the provincial government and I give my word today.  As the residents of Kannaland, you will have a stable Kannaland that works together with the Western Cape Government.”
