Minister Plato to announce Provincial Policing Needs and Priorities

18 April 2016

Today, Monday 18 April 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety will officially present the full results of the 2015/16 provincial Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) determination process.

Minister Plato will brief journalists on the report, its findings, results, and recommendations together with the way forward to help create safer communities.

The 2015/16 PNP results follow the extensive consultation process between May and December 2015 where the Department of Community Safety hosted consultation meetings in all 16 police clusters, engaging with a variety of safety stakeholders and members of the public.

The inputs from all 16 meetings held in the province are included in the PNP report to be presented to the media today and is also submitted to the National Minister of Police for his consideration when determining where different policing resources are needed as per Section 206(1) of the Constitution.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews. A full copy of the Policing Needs and Priorities Report will be provided to journalists in attendance.
