MEC for Community Safety welcomes National Minster for Safety and Security in the Western Cape

Western Cape MEC for Community Safety Leonard Ramatlakane will be accompanying his national counterpart Minister Charles Nqakula during his Imbizo to the province tommorrow.

Minister Nqakula is on a national Imbizo tour to promote the Firearm Amnesty- urging members of the public to hand in their weapons, whether legal or illegal before 31 March.

MEC for Community Safety Leonard Ramatlakane will accompany the national minister to Mitchell's Plain and Khayelitsha.

They will both start at the Khayelitsha Police station at 12pm on Thursday 17 March. Later they will meet the public at the Promenade Shopping mall in Mitchell's Plain.

They will thereafter go on a walkabout in and around Khayelitsha . During the walkabout they will be joined by members of the Khayelitsha community and a 5-person delegation from Cuba that is paying a visit to the Western Cape Department of Community Safety.

The Cubans arrived in Cape Town on Saturday last week. They are here to observe several projects headed by the Department of Community Safety. They will return to Cuba on Saturday 19 March 2005.
