Ensure your COVID vaccinations are up-to-date

7 February 2023

Community outreaches, where COVID-19 vaccines are integrated with comprehensive health services, have proved to be an effective way to provide people with access to healthcare that protects them and keep them out of hospital.

On Wednesday, 8 February 2023, between 09:00 and 15:00, residents in the vicinity of the Sanlam/ Parow Mall can access their COVID-19 vaccine or booster, which reduces their likelihood of becoming seriously ill. As of 6 February, the Western Cape has administered 5 727 146 vaccines, including 710 872 booster vaccines.

This community outreach in the Northern/ Tygerberg Substructure, forms part of an agreement between Anova Health, Right To Care and Western Cape Department of Health. The agreement contributes to the province’s COVID-19 vaccination uptake and to make health services such as HIV testing and counselling, and Tuberculosis (TB), hypertension and diabetes screening available to residents, available as part of this campaign. As of 1 February 2023, Anova Health has administered 1 482 COVID-19 vaccines, and Right to Care has administered 5 050 COVID-19 vaccines.

“The contribution of our partners, who specifically organise these outreaches in community spaces where residents can easily access essential health services, is appreciated. These outreaches help ensure higher uptake of vaccines, including booster doses, and they will continue to be our best line of defence against COVID-19, and ease the burden on the healthcare system,” says Dr Hilary Goeiman, Western Cape COVID-19 Vaccination Project Office Lead.

Children who are 12 years or older can also be vaccinated against COVID-19. It is safe and available for free at your nearest clinic or vaccination site in your community.
