Learner transport driver awareness in Transport Month

Today, 8 August 2020, Department of Transport and Public Works: Directorate: Road Safety Management (RSM) in partnership with Drakenstein Municipal Traffic Law Enforcement (TLE) hosted a learner transport driver awareness session at the Ligstraal School in Paarl.

The main aim of the intervention is to address learner driver behavior that contribute towards Western Cape’s poor road safety performance.  The main objective is to create awareness on safer learner transport for children to and from school.

Ligstraal School is situated in the Drakenstein Municipality area.  It is a special needs school with its own learner transport.  October Transport month created an opportunity for both the RSM and Drakenstein Municipality TLE to engage with the drivers from the school in an educational and informative manner.
