Work on a R106 million Department of Transport and Public Works project to rehabilitate Main Road 215 between Mamre and Yzerfontein has begun. This road was last refurbished in 1994, and carries approximately 2 500 vehicles a day. The current project is scheduled for completion in November 2016.
The following construction works will take place along the R304 and R315:
The flow of traffic during the project will be managed through half width construction with a stop/go system during the day and a traffic light system at night.
Motorists can expect weather-related delays.
A significant number of employment opportunities (quantified as 4 333 person-days), will be created for people living within the boundaries of the Swartland Local Municipality. Five per cent (5%) of the contract value will be allocated to contractor businesses in the Western Cape.
