Results of Provincial Traffic Services Weekend Traffic Operations on 11 and 12 July 2014
This weekend’s 21 alcohol blitz roadblocks across the Western Cape saw a total of 2 449 vehicles stopped as part of Provincial Traffic Services Safety campaign.
1 073 drivers were screened for (being under suspicion of) driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in 28 arrests.
The highest breath alcohol reading was recorded in Caledon at 1.56 mg/1000 ml, which was six times the legal limit of 0,24 mg/1000 ml.
849 vehicles were screened for speeding of which 108 speeding offences were recorded.
285 fines were issued for various traffic violations ranging from driver to vehicle fitness to the amount of R185 050.00.
