Stack room management

Archives are housed in purpose built storage rooms where they are protected against fire, theft and disintegration. Members of the public are not permitted in the stack rooms.

Arrangement and description of archives

Archives are arranged and described to make them available to the public. Inventories and lists are compiled to serve as finding aids in the reading room.

Digitising archives

Digitising archival records to increase the accessibility of digital holdings on the world wide web in the near future.

Transfer of archives

Governmental bodies are required by law to transfer archives with enduring value after the records have been in existence for 20 years.
