Western Cape tourism sector showcase at Ministry First Thursday

2 February 2017

The Western Cape’s tourism sector will be showcased at the Ministry of Economic Opportunities First Thursday event tonight.

As part of his programme, Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will honour Hylton and Janis Ross, the founders of local tour company, Hylton Ross Tours, for their contribution to the tourism sector.

The Western Cape’s iconic Big 7 attractions will also be staging an exhibition.

The Big 7 include:

  • The Table Mountain Cableway
  • Cape Point
  • Groot Constantia
  • The V&A Waterfront
  • Kirstenbosch Gardens
  • Robben Island
  • City Walk

Last month, Minister Winde and Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape, released key facts on the Western Cape’s tourism sector.

From a range of key attractions across the region, nine of out ten reported record visitor numbers for the 2016 peak season and foreign arrivals grew at 29% year-on-year in December.

All members of the public are encouraged to join tonight’s First Thursday event.
