Sudoku Logic-Based Placement Puzzle Game Prize Award Ceremony

6 September 2006
Twenty learners will, on Thursday 7 September 2006, receive awards after slugging it out in a tough competition in a logic-based placement puzzle game, called Sudoku. The aim of the game is to teach learners various skills about mathematical problem solving and critical thinking, which they will find useful in the classroom.

The awards ceremony is hosted by the Northern Education and Management Development Centre (EMDC) of the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), and is taking place in the North Hall.

The Top 20 learners will be awarded with certificates and books as prizes. This competition is a joint collaboration between Elkanah House, EMDC North and Curriculum Directorate of WCED.

This is a pilot competition in the EMDC with a hope of extending it to other EMDCs next year, hence it was only open to all primary schools in the EMDC North. Schools are looking forward to next year's competition.
