Services installation update on Cogmanskloof roadworks (Montagu/ Ashton)

17 January 2017

Good progress has been made on a 36-month Department of Transport and Public Works contract to rehabilitate and upgrade various sections of the R60 and R62 between Ashton and Montagu through Cogmanskloof. Work on the R583 million contract is expected to have been completed in the third quarter of 2018.

The first phase of the installation of the stormwater pipe in Du Toit Street (between Long Street and the Kingna River) is complete. Phase 2 has been postponed until further notice.

The construction team will resume installing services on the eastbound lane between Du Toit Street and Cross Street on 18 January 2017. Traffic will only be allowed to travel towards Barrydale between Du Toit and Cross Streets. Parking  will be allowed in front of the school between 06:30 and 07:30, and between 12:30 and 14:30. The intersections of Long Street and Du Toit, Market, and Cross Streets will have to be closed when services are installed. The public will be notified in good time.

The high-quality road infrastructure that DTPW provides is an important component of a safe and effective transport system, and an enabler of economic and social development in the Western Cape.
