Restoration of Electricity Supply in Progress

The gale force winds over this weekend have wreaked havoc with the electricity supply across the city where falling trees and branches have damaged overhead power lines. The increased demand for electricity as a result of the cold and wet conditions also contributed to the technical problems.

An appeal is made to residents to please be patient as all available Electricity Services repair teams are in the field restoring the network supply.

Areas experiencing a disruption in electricity supply are as follows. Where the cause of the fault is known, it is listed:

· Maitland Area - transformer fault

· Bonteheuwel

· Rondebosch Main Road and Surrounds - transformer fault

· Mamre, Pella - high tension cable fault

· Goodwood, Buitendacht Street

· Parow: Duncan and Visagie Streets - overhead lines

· Claremont: Bowwood Street and surrounds

· Tygerhof, Milnerton: Patrick Street & surrounds

· Fish Hoek: Echo Street & surrounds

· Bonteheuwel - Soetdoring Street - Area Fault

· Newlands: Newlands Avenue, Broadway

· Noordhoek: Montrose & Main

· Silvertown, Athlone: Appledene Road - tree fell on overhead lines

· Pinelands

· Heathfield: Gordon Road

· Bishops Court - fault on overhead lines

· Duinefontein, Melkbos

· Schaapkraal Road

· Bellville

· Panorama

· Kuils River
