Premier Zille to Address National Anti-Corruption Strategy Public Consultation

17 April 2018

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 April 2018, Premier Helen Zille will address the provincial public consultation on the development of the National Anti-corruption Strategy.

The provincial consultations are an opportunity to engage with various stakeholders on the proposed draft anti-corruption strategy or discussion paper, as it is commonly known. It was commissioned by the national anti-corruption inter-ministerial committee. This process is chaired and coordinated by the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME), in the Presidency.

As part of the process, each province will have an opportunity to host public consultations to engage with relevant stakeholders.

Tomorrow, Premier Zille will give an overview of how the Western Cape Government has, over the years, dealt with corruption including the provincial policy that underpins the fight against corruption in the province. Premier Zille will also provide insights on what is required to stem the tide of corruption across the public sector.

Following the Premier’s remarks there will be a high-level panel discussion comprising representatives from the DPME, Corruption Watch and the National Prosecuting Authority, followed by inputs from various stakeholders.

All media are invited to attend. There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
