Power Outage at a Substation near Kenilworth Centre

13 September 2009
Claremont, Kenilworth, Rondebosch, Rondebosch East, Kenwyn and parts of Lansdowne were left without electricity at 07:20 this morning after a circuit breaker faulted at a substation near the Kenilworth Centre.

Electricity Services technicians immediately commenced with repair work and by noon the electricity supply had been restored to 50% of the affected areas. It is hoped to have the remainder reconnected by 16:00.

The 24/7 Electricity Call Centre on 0800 220 440 is experiencing high call volumes. Customers struggling to reach the call centre by phone can send an SMS to 31220 with their address and a short description of the fault.
