The Western Cape Department of Health will officially launch the province’s Phase 2 vaccination rollout on 17 May focusing on over 60s. We would like to advise citizens on what to expect as we move forward during this phase.
By adopting this responsible approach, the Department will be able to identify teething problems and correct these so we can render a dignified service and shield those who are vulnerable. The Western Cape Government has put in place a comprehensive vaccine rollout plan to ensure that we are ready for the mass vaccination programme.
What can be expected on Monday, 17 May (and the rest of the week)
In the Metro, seven vaccination sites have been identified to be functional as a phase 2 vaccination sites during this week. They will serve as a vaccination site for both contacted over 60s and healthcare workers:
It is imperative that the public support us during this first week and the best thing to do is to not present to a vaccination site if you have not been contacted. We encourage everyone who is 60 or older, or know someone who is, to please register for your vaccine.
