Minister Winde to Officially Launch !Khwa ttu Mountain Bike Trail

13 November 2014

This Saturday (15 November), Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, will officially launch a new mountain bike trail at !Khwa ttu on the West Coast.

The trail consists of a family friendly 10km option and a more adventurous 30km route for fitter riders. Its many bridges, crossings and single tracks were built by the local community, in cooperation with farmers and local businesses.

The launch of this route is expected to draw additional foreign and domestic visitors to the area, capitalising on the global trend toward adventure tourism.

It is also in line with Minister Winde’s goal of boosting jobs and growth in our province by becoming a magnet for leisure and professional cycling.

Members of the community, as well as Minister Winde, will participate in the inaugural 30km ride.

Media are welcome to attend the launch and also to register to ride (in order to register to ride, please send your details soonest to Tammy Evans).
