MEDIA ALERT: Minister Plato hosts Youth focussed religious leaders safety outreach to Worcester

Tomorrow, Saturday 1 July 2017, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, together with officials from the Department of Community Safety, will host a youth focussed religious leaders safety outreach in Worcester as part of the Departmental Youth Month observations under the theme: “Youth, Life Counts!”.

Minister Plato will address the religious fraternity in Worcester on the many challenges our youth are facing, as well as the possible solutions, from society-as-a-whole, to help the youth in their continued development and safeguarding.

Most notably, Minister Plato will discuss with the religious fraternity the various ways in which to partner with the Department of Community Safety through the Youth, Safety and Religious Partnership (YSRP) programme. The programme was first piloted in 2012 and sees the department partner with the religious fraternity in the province to operate various youth projects with the aim of reaching youth during the school holidays. During this June/July 2017 school holidays, the department is supporting 112 projects benefitting almost 7000 youth across the province.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
