#GoDigitalWC webinar series launched for SMMEs; Tech volunteers wanted

7 May 2020

Today (07 May 2020), we’re officially launching our #GoDigitalWC webinar series, which brings leading experts in digital technology and business transformation to present ideas and advice for SMMEs on how they can adapt and innovate during the Covid-19 crisis.

Adopting digital technologies provides opportunities for business to offer services and products online, or even adapt their internal business practises to an online environment, can significantly help to ensure business continuity and safe and healthy workplaces that reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection for employees and customers.

The #GoDigital WC webinar series will offer a free live weekly webinar where a variety of topics on digitisation and the digital economy will be presented, together with valuable insights and views from thought leaders and practitioners in the industry.

The webinars are aimed at a wide range of SMMEs, organisations and individuals working within the SMME ecosystem. The topics and discussions will be slanted towards “non-tech businesses” or those not traditionally operating in the ICT sector, and will cover themes such as e-commerce, digital marketing, digitisation of business operations and systems, cybersecurity, digitisation in the informal economy and more.

Today we are also calling on the digital and technology industry in the Western Cape to assist us by volunteering for our Tech Volunteer programme which aims to match experts with businesses who need digital expertise.

If you are a digital or technology expert, we would like to match your skills with small businesses in distress and offer to them 1-2-1 sessions of ‘free’ advisory practical tech and digital related support during Covid-19.

This is a voluntary initiative and an opportunity for the tech sector to come alongside other small businesses to provide some much-needed digital technology advice and assist in fast-tracking the digital-readiness of businesses in the Western Cape.

This initiative will be rolled out in three phases:
  • Phase 1. Call to recruit Tech Volunteers
  • Phase 2. Call to small businesses seeking tech and digital advisory support
  • Phase 3. Support matching
