Fire and Rescue Service Physical Assessment Training a First for the Department

All media are invited to attend the first physical fitness assessment test for the City's Fire and Rescue Services staff which will be held at the Bellville Fire Station.

Date: Wednesday, 23 September

Time: 11:00

Venue: Bellville Fire Station, Belrail Road (off Modderdam Road), Bellville

Pat Adams, Director: City Emergency Services, said: "I commend Chief Fire Officer, Ian Schnetler, for implementing this fitness policy and for leading by example by participating in the first test."

Council recently approved the Fire and Rescue Service Physical Fitness Policy.

The tests consist of a series of work-related exercises designed to determine cardiovascular fitness, strength and endurance levels. It is compulsory for all Fire and Rescue Service personnel to undertake the assessment.
