Encouraging Words For Athletes At the Eden District Sport Awards

28 July 2017

Athletes from the Eden District were awarded for their efforts in their respective sporting codes at the annual Eden District Sport Awards. The awards took place at the Community Hall in Riversdale on 27 July 2017 and was presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sports, in partnership with the Eden and Hessequa municipalities.

Eden Executive Mayor, Alderman Memory Booysen, welcomed guests to the awards. The Mayor emphasised the fact that sport brings all South Africans together. ‘We are a diverse country, with many sporting codes. But all these sporting codes contribute to the fibre of human beings’.

Director of Sport Promotion, Thabo Tutu praised all the athletes for their achievements and congratulated the Eden Sport Council for the work that they are putting into the development and promotion of sport. ‘This night belongs to all nominees’ said Mr Tutu, when he wished them the best of luck.

The Overberg District Sport Awards will take place in Caledon on 29 July 2017.

The Sport Awards acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of our sportspeople. Let us continue to grow and nurture our sporting talent BETTER TOGETHER.
