Edith Stephens Wetland Park celebrate Galilean Nights on 23 October

20 October 2009
Edith Stephens Wetland Park, in conjunction with the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), will once again be hosting a free stargazing evening at the park on Friday, 23 October. The event aims at building on the success of the 100 hours of Astronomy' event which was held at the park in April.

The aim of the event is to get as many people as possible to view our night skies through a telescope to celebrate the observations Galileo made 400 years ago. This is once again part of a worldwide event in which thousands of people will be turning their attention to the heavens. Observations will concentrate on the planet Jupiter and its moons.

Professional astronomers will be on hand to deliver fascinating talks and guide the viewing through the powerful telescopes.
