Disaster Management nominated for Service Excellence
The Department of Local Government celebrates Disaster Management's team nomination in the 2020 Service Excellence Awards.
The nomination comes on the back of the stellar service provided by the directorate, during the nation-wide lockdown. The team was nominated for excellence in the 'Barrier Breaker' category, which recognises public servants for their commitment to citizen-centeredness and dedicated teamwork across different areas.
During the hard lockdown the Disaster Management Centre operated for 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and on public holidays. Staff worked 12-hour shifts, with 100% of the staff compliment working in teams, to serve the public during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Department of Local Government is pleased with this nomination and sends the team at Disaster Management the very best of luck as they await the final outcome. The nomination itself holds great prestige and it is "a pleasure to see the great level of service delivery and dedication this team has shown", the Department said.
Chief Director for Disaster Management and Fire Brigade Services, Colin Deiner shares what the nomination means for the directorate:
Disaster Operations Director, Jacqueline Pandaram acknowledges staff and all involved in making the nomination possible:
