CapeNature going green in the Cederberg

CapeNature is in the process of installing a 75kWp solar photovoltaic system at its facility in Algeria in the Cederberg.

Anton Bredell, MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning says CapeNature’s new solar PV system will ensure operational continuity during load shedding.

“This will ensure that CapeNature will still be able to deliver a quality service to its guests and that guests will not be inconvenienced by power cuts. In addition to the convenience, the solar PV also showcases CapeNature’s contribution to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.”

Bredell says the latest development is part of CapeNature’s ongoing work to improve and upgrade its facilities across the province.

“CapeNature manages some of the most spectacular areas of the Western Cape province and the reserves are continuously getting improved to ensure visitors have an unforgettable time. Solar PV has become a non-negotiable option given the projected long term challenges with Eskom in South Africa.”

Dr Razeena Omar, CEO of CapeNature says, “The entity will continue to implement innovative sustainable development solutions across our reserves. The next site to go off-grid will be Rocherpan Nature Reserve on the West Coast.”
