Premier Winde elated that all Covid-19 curbs have now been lifted.

Premier Alan Winde welcomes the move by Health minister Joe Phaahla to repeal the last of the country’s remaining Covid-19 regulations.

The move comes after yesterday’s President’s Coordinating Council (PCC) meeting.

At that gathering the Premier reiterated: “I fully support the recommendations to lift all remaining restrictions.”

“It's long overdue, though,” the Premier has stressed today, now that the regulations have been done away with.

The curbs relating to the wearing of face masks, public gatherings and ports of entry limitations are now officially things of a very difficult past.

The Premier has emphasised: “It is now up to all residents to use the lessons they have learnt over the past two years to keep themselves safe. It is about individual responsibility.”

The Premier adds the lingering restrictions have impeded our economic growth and job creation, especially in the events industry.

“I can't wait to hear the roar of a packed sports stadium, the buzz of a theatre filled to capacity and conference centres humming with activity again,” says Premier Winde.

He adds: “We need to now move on and learn to live with Covid-19. We have shown our health system has the capabilities and so we no longer require any further curbs which have been throttling our economic potential.”

The Premier has again emphasised: “It must now be about the economy and creating as many jobs as possible. It is the big crisis we face, and it will require determined, courageous action to ensure we beat back this ‘Second Pandemic’ too”.
