N7 weighbridge operation on road safety & freight logistics

On Tuesday, 24 October 2023, Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, and Western Cape Minister of Mobility, Ricardo Mackenzie, will join an integrated operation targeting road safety and freight logistics.

The movement of goods by freight transport operators is crucial to our economy. Since the decline of the rail system in South Africa, freight logistics have shifted to road-based transport. This means there is increasing pressure on our road network and weighbridges play a critical role in ensuring road safety related to big trucks transporting goods.

Premier Winde and Minister Mackenzie will join Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement and Road Safety Management teams checking heavy motor vehicles and speaking to drivers about safety.
