Dam Levels

The latest average level for dams in the Western Cape is 77.1% (2019:61.8%). The latest average level for dams providing water to the City of Cape Town, is 96.5 % (2019: 79.5%).

Anton Bredell, the minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape, says the latest dam levels comes as a relief after previous years where the situation was precarious.

“This should however not lead to waste and we want to urge consumers to continue to use water wisely over the summer season.”

Major dam statistics

Voëlvlei dam – 92.9% full this week (2019: 85%. Last week: 94.7%)

Bergriver Dam 98.3% full this week (2019: 95.8%. Last week: 99.9%).

Theewaterskloof dam – 98.1% full this week (2019: 70.7%. Last week: 99.5%)

Garden Route dam – 100% full this week (2019: 71.5%. Last Week: 100%)

Clanwilliam Dam 90.1%. (2019: 76.5%. Last week: 93.3%)
