Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, has congratulated local animation studio Triggerfish for their superb work on the Oscar nominated film Revolting Rhymes.
Revolting Rhymes was announced on Tuesday as one of the five Oscar finalists in the ‘best animated short film’ category.
Local animation studio, Triggerfish, which is based in Bergvliet, worked on the project with international producers Magic Light Pictures.
The film, based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name, has already won numerous other awards including the Cristal at the animation industry’s flagship festival held in Annecy, France. It is also nominated for other awards including the Annie Awards which take place in February, a British Animation award and the International Emmy Kids Awards, which take place in April.
Minister Winde said: “The very talented team at Triggerfish is a leading light in the animation industry in Africa. Their work has put animation in our province on the global map and we are extremely proud of all they have done to promote our creative industries. They are now rightfully being recognized for their talent and passion on film-making’s most prestigious stage, and I wish them all the best for the awards ceremony”.
