Tomorrow (16 March 2017), Minister Alan Winde will take to the waves for a surfing lesson with one of the province’s Airbnb Experience hosts.
Tourism entrepreneur and activist, Apish Tshetsha, will teach Minister Winde and Airbnb’s global CEO and Co-Founder, Brian Chesky, how to surf.
They will be joined by a group of young people from Masiphumelele who are currently participating in Waves for Change, a not for profit initiative which is using sport to promote the wellbeing of residents affected by violence and abuse.
Apish is himself a graduate of the Waves for Change programme and as an Airbnb Experience Host, he provides surfing lessons through his Surf with Purpose offering, under the Social Good Experience category. All the proceeds from any guest booking go to Waves for Change.
Last Month, Waves for Change won the global Laureus Sport for Good Award at a ceremony held in Monaco.
