Media Statement by Anton Bredell, Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning
It is with sadness that we are saying farewell to the Acting Chief Executive Officer at Cape Nature, Dr Kas Hamman, when he retires on 31 January 2014.
Dr Hamman started his professional career at the then Cape Department of Nature Conservation and has worked there ever since. This is a great achievement and retiring in the position of Acting CEO, is testament to the hard and dedicated work that he has done at Cape Nature. Dr Hamman played a pivotal role in terms of the management of the biodiversity of our beloved province.
As the Minister responsible for Cape Nature, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Dr Hamman for the tremendous work that he has delivered on, while at Cape Nature.
It has been a pleasure working with Dr Hamman since I became Minister and I have no doubt that his love for our beautiful province and its biodiversity and I have no doubt that even in retirement he will keep himself up to date on the daily issues being faced
Dr Hamman leaves Cape Nature and hands the leadership of the organisation over to the new CEO Dr Razeena Omar who officially takes over on 1 February 2014 and I am confident that Cape Nature will continue to be one of the best provincial conservation authorities in our country.
I wish him well in his retirement.
