Project: Southern Corridor

This project seeks to improve the living conditions in informal settlements. It comprises a combination of informal settlement upgrade and greenfields development projects. It is being prioritised due to its age, size, density, poor levels of service and unsuitability of current settlement conditions.

Southern Corridor projects include:

  • Airport Precinct Informal Settlement and Infill
  • Kosovo Informal Settlement and Infill
  • Forest Village
  • Thabo Mbeki
  • Tsunami

This project is conveniently located in the Belhar Restructuring Zone, between 2 train stations as well as next to 2 universities and a college. It is15 minutes away from 2 malls and close to 3 industrial areas. There are 16 local primary and secondary schools in close proximity, as well as 3 sport complexes and the local swimming pool.
