A further total amount of R2 049 000.00 was handed over to the Witzenberg, Stellenbosch and George municipalities to assist with upgrading of existing facilities in their areas. Sporting clubs on the Club Development Programme also received equipment to support them in their activities.

Minister Marais said: “As we build up to the 2023 Netball World Cup, we are supporting our sporting federations and municipalities in the work that they do to promote sport in their regions and in offering communities the opportunity to participate safely in sport. We are committed to ensuring the Western Cape becomes the centre of sporting excellence in the country.”

The department continues to support affiliated sporting federations in the province to continue the work they are doing.
