The 22nd edition of Suidoosterfees celebrates art, hope, talent, and opportunity

The Western Cape Government is proud to welcome the 22nd edition of the Suidoosterfees, taking place from 30 April to 4 May 2025 at the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town. This year’s theme, Kuns is Alles (Art is Everything), highlights the vital role of the arts in inspiring hope, creating jobs, and strengthening communities.

Western Cape Government Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, said, “The Suidoosterfees continues to be a beacon of cultural celebration, bringing together diverse communities through the universal language of art. This festival not only showcases our rich artistic heritage but also stimulates economic growth and social cohesion in our province.”

The festival’s flagship Konsert van Hoop again shines a spotlight on Cape Town as a destination of hope and excellence. Through partnerships with organisations like the National Youth Music Foundation and projects such as NATi Jong Sterre, the Suidoosterfees plays an important role in developing the next generation of artists.

The festival also contributes significantly to the economy by supporting grassroots job creation through the arts — a key priority for the Western Cape Government.

After the main festival, SOF Junior will take place from 5 to 8 May, with storytelling and creative programmes designed especially for young audiences.

Tickets for Suidoosterfees and SOF Junior are available through Webtickets. For the full programme and more information, visit www.suidoosterfees.com.
