Some City Customers Affected due to Meter Reading Unit Changes

13 August 2006
As a result of operational requirements to improve water meter reading within the City of Cape Town, it was necessary to swap certain meter reading portions within the erstwhile Cape Town Administration areas.

Some of the customers in these areas would have been affected by either one of two scenarios:

  1. Receiving an account with their rates billings for July and August, where there was no invoice in July.
  2. Receiving a second invoice within 14 days of the last invoice.

In both these scenarios there has been no duplicate billings, in terms of the new meter reading and billing dates. The invoicing cycle of the affected accounts will normalize after the August billing.

Those customers where the necessary changes have not yet been effected will be communicated to before any further changes are applied.

Please note: Should any customer have difficulty in making payment as a result of these changes, arrangements can be made to stagger the payments by contacting 021 400 2578 or 021 400 3695 .

The City apologises for any inconvenience caused.
