Motivated to Stay Fit at Public Aerobics Sessions

19 April 2013

The most enthusiastic participants received prizes at the public aerobics session that took place in the Company’s Garden in Cape Town on Friday 19 April 2013. The event was one of a series of weekly sessions jointly hosted by the City of Cape Town and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.

Most people accept that fitness is important, but it can be difficult to get started and stay motivated. The weekly public aerobics sessions encourage people to exercise in a group, to have fun together, and to enjoy a healthier life.

Ms Ntombi Zwane of the Department of Transport and Public Works felt good since she does not follow a regular exercise routine. “I attended my first session today. It was exciting. I didn’t expect to have so much fun. The morning sunshine brought a nice vibe and I won’t miss next week’s session,” she said.

The Department has been spreading “fitness revolution” cheer in Cape Town during the months of March and April through group aerobics in the open air. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the final session of the current series in the Company’s Garden in front of Iziko Museum from 8:30 to 9:00 on Friday, 26 April 2013.
