Minister Simmers to officiate at launch of UWC student accommodation facility

On Monday 24 April, the Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers will join the National Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Dr. Blade Nzimande. They will officiate the opening of the University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Unibell student accommodation facility. 
 
The 6 x 4-floor multi-level buildings house 2720 student beds and accompanying amenities.  
 
Speaking ahead of this historic event Minister Tertuis Simmers said: “I’m excited to officially cut the ribbon of this maiden student accommodation project by the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure. This is a great example of what can be achieved through having an adequate land release program. This facility gives hope to thousands of students who dream of one day enrolling at UWC and not having to suffer the hardships associated with a long-distance campus commute.”
