Minister Simmers announces the completion of the Moorreesburg High School

The Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers announced the completion of the construction of the Moorreesburg High School, in the Swartland Municipality.
The construction of Moorreesburg High School was completed in August 2022. 

The R65,7 million project provides a much-needed educational facility in the region. Building commenced on 8 January 2021 and has created 211 job opportunities: 
152 workers 
120 Youth (below the age of 30 years) employees, 
31 female employees,
3 disabled employees and 
6 National Youth Service Learners took part in a 6-month on-site mentorship programme.

This brand-new high school included extensive construction work using conventional building materials and methods. These remain the most economical, durable, and low-maintenance systems of building. The school will operate from the beginning of 2023 allowing the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) to occupy the building and train and appoint staff for the new school year.

Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers said: “I am delighted to share this news, of the completion of this project. Many learners can look forward to beginning the 2023 schooling year in one of the best facilities built in this country. It is essential that we continue to invest in our education infrastructure, in so doing we will produce quality future leaders. This project has already proven to be of great benefit to the local community, by providing a multitude of economic opportunities and skills development”. 

Moorreesburg High School is just another example, where the Western Cape Government is showing its commitment to delivering state-of-the-art facilities on time, and within budget. 
The learners of this school can look forward to world-class learning and teaching facilities which will undoubtedly contribute to improved education outcomes.
