Minister Madikizela to Launch Multimillion Affordable Housing Project in Belhar

Today, Monday 04 September 2017, Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela will launch the multimillion rand Belhar Housing Project with a sod turning ceremony.

The R350 million Belhar CBD Development  was approved in January 2015 and will comprise a mixed-use development, consisting of various types of housing opportunities, including FLISP, student accommodation, low to mixed-income rental and open market housing. This development will  not only accommodate community members from Belhar but anyone registered on the provincial housing demand database.

A portion of the site will be reserved for use by the Department of Health for the development of the Tygerberg Regional Hospital, while another portion had been made available for the development of sectionalized BNG units. This is the first of its kind in the province.

The project is estimated to be complete by June 2019 and will yield more than 2 300 housing opportunities.
