Minister to launch Hygiene & Drought Awareness Campaign at ECDs

14 March 2018

Today, the Western Cape Minister of Social Development will launch the Department’s ECD Hygiene & Drought campaign at the Teddy’s Den Crèche in Rugby, near Milnerton.

The campaign is part of the Department’s efforts to raise awareness regarding the crippling drought, and to ensure that the health and well-being of children aren’t adversely affected.

The Campaign will prioritize providing hygiene packs to registered crèche facilities which render services to children with disability.

The MEC will be joined by our NGO partner, Al-Imdaad, which has generously joined the Department in providing hygiene packs to be dispensed to crèches across the province.

Even as we look to reduce our water usage at ECD facilities, good hygiene habits must be maintained. Disease outbreaks, such as the current national listeriosis outbreak, can be made worse if good hygiene is not practiced.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.

Date: 14 March 2018 (Today)

Time: 10:30am.

Venue: Teddy’s Den Creche, 2 Albow Road, Rugby (near Milnerton)
