Minister Fritz to welcome 20 new EPWP interns to fight FAS in Vredendal

11 July 2018

Today, the Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, will welcome 20 EPWP interns who’ll be trained to tackle Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).

The Minister will be hosted by NGO partner, Landbou Gemeenskap Ontwikkeling (LGO), who will train and work with the youth. These young people will tackle FAS and other substance abuse issues in the Vredendal rural communities.

After research conducted by the Department into the prevalence of FAS on the West Coast region, the Department developed a partnership with NGOs, such as LGO, to train young people to form part of the strategy of raising awareness and assisting with referrals to treatment facilities, for people needing help.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.

Time: 09:30am (Today)

Venue: Die Keldery, Klawer/Vredendal road R363, Vredendal
