Minister Allen and Provincial SAPS Deputy Commissioner relaunch rewards system

25 April 2023

Minister Allen and Provincial SAPS Deputy Commissioner Maj Gen Manci to relaunch reward system for reporting illegal firearms.

Tomorrow, 26 April 2023, on the 1st anniversary of his term in office, Provincial Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, and Western Cape Deputy Police Commissioner, Major-General Manci will relaunch the reward system to encourage the public to report the whereabouts of illegal firearms. Those who report where illegal firearms can be found, and upon their successful confiscation, can earn up to R 5 000.

Minister Allen said, “This is an exciting launch and one that we have been threatening to re-introduce now for a while. Firearms, particularly illegal ones are major contributors to the murder rate in the Western Cape. By offering a reward to the public, we hope that this will serve as an incentive to, at the very least, get residents to start reporting these illegal firearms to authorities so that they can be removed from our streets.”

ALL MEDIA ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
