MEDIA ALERT: Minister Plato to host public meeting in Elsies River

On Sunday, 7 May 2017, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety will host a public meeting in Leonsdale, Elsies River.

The public meeting follows the recent deadly shooting incidents which occurred earlier in the week, Minister Plato’s continued visits to the community and yesterday’s visit by National Police Minister, Fikile Mbalula.

Through Sunday’s meeting, the Western Cape Government seeks to help identify the community’s safety service delivery problems and needs, partner better with the community to help improve safety through existing safety partnerships and escalate the concerns of the community to the different law enforcement agencies for effective intervention in the area.

The Department of Community Safety has already invited and informed the local South African Police Service (SAPS), Community Policing Forum (CPF), Neighbourhood Watch (NHW), municipal councillors and the community about the meeting as we realise that no single entity or person will succeed in the fight against the scourge of gangsterism, drugs and crime.
