#libraries4lifelonglearning

18 March 2016

On Monday, 14 March 2016 Minister Anroux Marais launched the South African Library Week 2016 at the Maskam Mall in the West Coast.

The theme for the national reading campaign is #libraries4lifelonglearning and the campaign will end on 21 March 2016.

Minister Marais also launched the brand new library mascot to the public. The well-loved Bhuki introduced the youth to the exciting world of books and reading. The Mayor of the Matzikama Municipality, Mr Patric Bok, Municipal Councillors, DCAS senior managers, Library Service staff, public librarians, school principals, learners and community members participated and they received the latest version of the book carrier bags.

Bhuki and the DCAS Library Service staff in partnership with the Matzikama Municipality are rolling out reading programmes in the Vredendal area.

DCAS provides connected, well-stocked libraries to communities.  Let us build knowledgeable, successful communities BETTER TOGETHER.
