Eighty-three Students to Receive Masakh’iSizwe Bursaries

The Department of Transport and Public Works will award Masakh’iSizwe Bursaries to 83 recipients on Saturday, 2 March 2013.

The Masakh’iSizwe Bursary is awarded to students in the engineering and built environment field selected through the application process.

The Bursary Awards Ceremony will take place at Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s (CPUT) Belville Campus. Each recipient will receive a bursary which includes the following:

  • Tuition fees.
  • Books.
  • Stationery allowance.
  • Accommodation.
  • Transport for students residing at home.
  • Food allowance.

Jo-Anne Beukes, Manager: Masakh’iSizwe Centre for Professional Development believes the support programmes to its students is what sets the Masakh’iSizwe Bursary apart from others.

“Our support programmes include leadership courses and mentorship programmes,” she says.
“Employability skills, psycho-social support and outreach programmes also form part of the Bursary”.

Robin Carlisle, Minister of Transport and Public Works and Johan Fourie, Head of Department of Transport and Public Works will present the bursaries at the ceremony.
